JD: Last Minute Shoot

When Jordana and I were in The Keys last month, we decided to do a spontaneous shoot on the boat we were on. We had just spent the whole day in the sun and we were heading in for the day. The sun was starting to set, and it cast this beautiful glow over the water. Once we docked, she said, "Want to do a quick shoot?" How could I say no! The backdrop was gorgeous and it was sunset (my favorite time to shoot). Unfortunately, my battery was about to die, so we got in as many shots as we could. For my camera dying, I was still able to get 500+ pictures. These are the most memorable ones. Thanks, Jo, for always being up for a random shoot! You're the best. :)

Craig & Monica: Wedding

When my good friends Craig & Monica got engaged, they called me and asked me to shoot their wedding. I felt so honored that they would think of me for such a special day in their lives. Since they were moving back to England, the wedding only included their parents and siblings, with bigger receptions to follow later. They were so easygoing and it just made my job a breeze. Take a look inside their special day.

Jake & Brayden: Portraits

In May, I was so sad when our good friends Dave and Kara—and their adorable boys Jake and Brayden—were moving back to North Carolina. Before they left, I insisted on taking photos of the boys together. I had a year to photograph Jake, but Brayden was only one month old. This was an opportunity to get both of them together and get some great shots the day before they left for North Carolina. Here is a bit of my visit with them.

Travel: Park City, Utah

Last Thanksgiving, my family and I broke our yearly tradition of going to Disney every year and instead travelled to Park City, Utah for the holiday. While in Park City, I realized that the mountains could be so relaxing. It was great to disconnect for a while. It was also great to go outside at night and see the stars (which I don't get to see often living in a city).

Andy & Victoria: Save the Dates

Andy and Victoria are dear friends of mine and got engaged in December 2008. Last November, Victoria called me and asked if I would take their "Save the Date" photos. Of course, I agreed. I can't believe a year has already gone by since I took these photos, especially since they are already married! These two people mean so much to me and I am thrilled they allowed me to capture the happiness they have shared for so long together. Here is a glimpse inside the day we spent taking photos on the beach.

Digital Self-Portrait

This semester in my graphic design class, my professor gave us a project to create a self-portrait. The challenging part of this assignment was to create the self-portrait without using a picture of ourselves. We had to use objects that represented our past, present and future. I have to admit that I found it interesting as I went through the design process. As I sketched out all my ideas, I found that I was most connected to the places I travelled and my Italian heritage (and of course my photography). Throw in my love for fashion and my self-portrait was starting to look good. After two weeks working on the assignment, I felt like I was able to capture myself in this frame. I hope you enjoy the final piece below.
