LA's Favorite Things: 2014 Edition

For the last few years, I have been sharing my favorite holiday gifting items or my favorite things. Picking out gifts for the ones I cherish most brings me such joy. I love it even more when I am able to gift some of my favorite things. With the holidays quickly approaching, see my list of favorite things below for a little holiday gifting inspiration.

Books are some of my favorite gifts to give. I love to collect books of all shapes, sizes and types. Some of my favorites this year range from photography and fashion to design and cooking. These are a few of my favorites that would be gift worthy: Study of Pose: 1,000 Poses by Coco Rocha, Journey of a Dress by Diane von Furstenburg, The SkinnyTaste Cookbook: Light on Calories, Big on Flavor, and Malcolm Gladwell: Collected.

I love having a signature scent. Mine at the moment is Infusion di Iris by Prada. However, while visiting Saks 5th Avenue in New York City recently, one of the sales associates introduced me to Hermes' newly developed Jour de Hermes. The scent was heavenly, and not badly priced for Hermes. Some of my other favorite scents include Nirvana by Elizabeth & James and Flowerbomb by Viktor & Rolf.

Candles are truly one of my favorite home items; I burn one whenever I am at home. I have tried a lot of different brands for candles, but none can compare to Capri Blue. Their jar candle from Anthropologie in Volcano is my favorite. It comes in this limited edition iridescent jar for the holidays, but you can also get it in the classic blue, red or mercury glass jars. Not only do these candles last forever, but your entire room or house smells great for hours!

This necklace from Stella & Dot is a classic jewelry gift for any woman in your life. Paying homage to the vintage necklaces from the 60s. Available in Silver, Gold and Rose Gold, this necklace can stand alone or be layered with other great pieces.

Photographers are always customizing their gear, especially their camera straps. What a great gift to give that photographer in your like. I'm a black and white stripes girl, and I love this strap I found on Etsy, and there are a ton of options to choose from. However, you can find more straps at other companies, such as Ona

Victoria's Secret Sleep Shirt | $29.50 or 2 for $49.50

The sleep shirts from Victoria's Secret are some of my favorites to not only sleep in, but also lounge around the house. These will make a great gift paired with a robe or a set of slippers. The sleep shirts are available with both short sleeves and 3/4 inch sleeves.

Bibelot Bakeware | $16.00 to $42.00

For the baker in your life, these beautiful baking pieces from Anthropologie make a stunning impression. There are so making baking sets to choose from, but this set by Nathalie Lete is whimsical and chic. Go and explore all of the options now!

Fitbit Flex | $99.95

As someone who likes to stay fit, I think the Fitbit is a genius idea. I was introduced to Fitbit through the mobile app first, which is great. However, the wristband tracks steps, distance, calories burned, active minutes and sleep. Who doesn't want to know all those cool stats? Available in 10 great colors, this is a great gift for the fitness lover in your life. Also, check out some of my favorite accessories, including the Tory Burch necklace holder.

As someone who is a lover of paper, I think these note cards from Kate Spade New York are just a thoughtful gift. Whether giving as a gift for a host/hostess or a co-worker, these cards are made so beautifully and will be the gift that keeps on giving throughout the year.

For all my foodies out there, Millie's Fromage starter kit is a great start to a great culinary adventure. This kit has everything the culinary beginner needs to get started, plus room for experts to get creative. Items included are the following: a ceramic cheese pot with pressing plate and lid; cheese mold; Millie's cheesemaking ingredients (rennet, citric acid and cheese salt); thermometer; cheese cloth; and wipe-clean recipes and instructions. Such a clever gift that will be sure to make a splash with the food lover in your life.

GoPro HERO3+ Silver | $299.99

If you are looking for a big gift for a significant other or someone special in your life, the GoPro is definitely worth the money. My sister has turned me on to the GoPro, and I can honestly say I really love it. It is better than carrying my Canon 7D around with me everywhere, especially at places like the beach or Walt Disney World. Some of the features include 1080p60 video, 10MP photos up to 10 frames per second, built-in Wi-Fi and an ultra wide-angle lens and waterproof to 131 ft. (40m). Don't forget some of the cool accessories too, such as the selfie pole.

Tiffany T Square Ring | $350

The Tiffany T Square Ring in Sterling Silver is one of my obsessions right now. Every since this collection came out, I have been in love with not only the ring, but also the bracelet. Although the bracelet is out of my price range right now, I can't resist the thought of opening up that little blue box. Maybe if I am good, Santa will get it for me this year!

Camera bags are my favorite, and it is really difficult to find stylish ones that don't look like camera bags. The B-Hobo model from Kelly Moore is not only chic, but functional. It is available in 4 colors (Walnut, Grassy Green, Almost Black & Heather Grey) and comes with a removable camera insert so the bag can be used normally as well. If the B-Hobo is not your style, there are plenty of other options on the website. It's good to have options, right?

Paige Trinket Box | $19.99

The Paige Trinket Box from ZGallerie is a great little stocking stuffer. It would look great on a nightstand or even a bathroom sink, and is available in three other colors.

Nespresso INISSIA | $99.99

I don't always drink coffee, but when I do, I usually drink a double shot espresso. I couldn't live without my Nespresso machine. I can make either espresso or coffee with it, just strong enough to get me through my day. This model is available through Nespresso directly or on Amazon (got to love AmazonPrime!). And while giving the gift, don't forget to add the pods; you can't drink coffee without the coffee pods. ;)
