Earlier this year, I was in one of my graphic design classes and one of the assignments was to design for a competition called Design Against Fur, which is part of the the Fur Free Alliance. The Fur Free Alliance (FFA) is an international coalition of over 35 animal protection organizations working to bring an end to the exploitation and killing of animals for their fur. The theme this year was based around animal cruelty in fur factories. I found this to be so hard to design, especially with the topic. I was literally sick to my stomach every time I would go to class because I would have to look through galleries of mangled animals. It was very depressing.
I submitted my artwork for for the DAF competition for the Europe and International division. I was shocked to get an email that I had been chosen to be Specially Commended for the Europe and International division. Out of thousands of entries from around the world, I could not believe my artwork had been chosen. I feel very fortunate and honored.
